JANET STEVENS
MEET JANET STEVENS – AN EXPERIENCED LEADER WORKING FOR AND DELIVERING RESULTS FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE AND DISTRICT 3 RESIDENTS
Janet Stevens is a successful small business owner, non-profit professional, gubernatorial appointee, and municipal government leader who has served her community for more than 28 years. She is the candidate prepared to assume Executive Council duties on Day One!
Governor Christopher Sununu appointed Stevens to the Seacoast Cancer Cluster Investigation Commission and the Board of Mental Health Practices, for which she started a second term. In these two roles, she has been an effective advocate for the people of New Hampshire for environmental safety and access to mental health services. During the pandemic, her efforts have included support for telehealth services for critical mental health services, supporting health care providers, assisting small business owners with state and federal loan programs, ensured that small business owners struggling with language barriers obtained access to the Main Street Fund, facilitated needed state infrastructure projects, advocated for first responders denied just compensation etc.
Stevens fought off insurance companies who refused to cover patients seeking telehealth services during the pandemic. Shutting off patients from mental health services when they had no option to see a provider in person is unconscionable and Stevens stood up for what she believes in. Her dedicated work was the catalyst to Executive Order 8. This is the type of leadership voters can expect from her if elected to the Executive Council.
Her commitment to the community is evident in her service on the board of non-profit organizations. Stevens has served on the boards of numerous non-profit boards, with a focus on veteran’s advocacy, health, education, performing arts and historic preservation.
Her experience is well suited to the role of Executive Council, which is charged with approving state contracts, voting on state agency nominees, judicial branch appointments, and implementing the state’s 10-year transportation plan. Janet has the ‘trifecta’ of experience voters look for when electing a Councilor: government service, business experience, and a history of leading successful nonprofits.
As your next Councilor, Janet will be a fiscal hawk when reviewing state contracts and will fight for more competition in the bidding process to ensure New Hampshire taxpayers get the best deal. As a business owner herself, Janet understands the struggles our business community is facing and will advocate for economic development in District 3 and will appoint government leaders who understand the importance of a vibrant economy, balanced budgets, government transparency, and efficiency. You can count on Janet to support the integrity of our elections, our civil liberties, and who will defend our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. As a firm believer in health care competition, Janet will ensure that insurance companies and providers in our state, deliver efficient, economic care for our citizens.
Janet and her husband Bob have been Seacoast residents for 28 years. They have 2 grown children and 2 energetic dogs. A former elite level distance runner, she spends any spare time biking, boating, and swimming with her dogs.
